Background

Foundation for Rural Development (FORUD) is a Non- Governmental organization that was established in September 2015 and got registered on 21st June ,2016 with the Government of Malawi at the Registrar General under the Trustees incorporation Rules . The Organization has 42 members and is affiliated to Malawi Council for the Handicapped ( MACOHA), Social Welfare Office, District Youth Office (DYO),Coordination Union for the Rehabilitation of the Environment (CURE). The organization was established with the view of promoting citizen participation in developmental activities. The founding members realized that citizens who are manifested to benefit are not the integral part of development activities. Citizens are also denied inclusive participation and decision making. It is in this view that FORUD came into existence in order to break the barrier of participation among citizens in developmental activities and other issues that affect them.
